Gary Prayer + Praise Night Podcast and Photos!

On Friday, November 4 Lt. AJ Zimmerman talked about the theme Angry God. What is our perception of God? What do we think he sees when he looks at us? Do we think he’s mad at us? Do we think he’s disgusted with us? Or do we know him to be accepting, loving and gracious?

If you want to listen back to Lt. AJ’s talk, or you weren’t able to make it, check out the podcast. Search for the “Metro Youth Network” podcast on iTunes, or listen to it in this post.

Mayfair P&PN Podcast + Photos

On Friday, January 15, 2016, Justin Rose (Youth Pastor at Mayfair Community Church) spoke a powerful word on faith and justice from Numbers 27:1-11.  The whole focus of the night was exploring the connection between faith and justice, and how justice is ultimately an act of faith because we’re living into a reality that isn’t 100% realized.  Weren’t able to be there in person?  Stream or download the podcast here in this post, or search Metro Youth Network on the podcast app.  You can also check out the photos from the night at Flickr or by using the slideshow below:

General Cox Responds to Paris Attacks

Following Friday evening’s terrorist attacks in Paris, The Salvation Army’s world leader General André Cox has written these words to Salvationists and friends. One of the most forceful statements comes at the 2:49 mark:

“There will possibly be strong voices within the public sphere calling for vengeful retribution against those who had nothing to do with these atrocities. In some small way the voice of the Church, of you and I, can call for added grace and care in these days. We can bring light into the gloom.”

In keeping with the prayers we offer at Prayer & Praise Night as a body, let us pray “Lord have mercy. Christ have mercy.”

Templo Laramie Podcast + Photos

We had an incredible Prayer & Praise Night on Friday, November 6 at the Templo Laramie Corps. Our guest for the night was Dr. Karen Hurula, Training Coordinator and Clinical Psychologist at Samaritan Interfaith and soldier of the Oakbrook Terrace Corps. The theme for the night was discussing depression and anxiety. Among other things, we tried to answer questions like: Do we use the right language in church when talking about these topics? Do we truly recognize the complexity of these issues, or do we approach them with a “one size fits all”, or “pray more” mentality? Also, what does it look like for us to help a brother or sister in need? What do we say? What shouldn’t we say?

In case you missed it, or in case you want to hear the message again (which we strongly encourage/advise you to do), you can download or stream the podcast straight from this post.

Also, thanks to Cody Forney, we have some awesome photos to help us remember the night and all that God did. Enjoy!
