We had an incredible Prayer & Praise Night on Friday, November 6 at the Templo Laramie Corps. Our guest for the night was Dr. Karen Hurula, Training Coordinator and Clinical Psychologist at Samaritan Interfaith and soldier of the Oakbrook Terrace Corps. The theme for the night was discussing depression and anxiety. Among other things, we tried to answer questions like: Do we use the right language in church when talking about these topics? Do we truly recognize the complexity of these issues, or do we approach them with a “one size fits all”, or “pray more” mentality? Also, what does it look like for us to help a brother or sister in need? What do we say? What shouldn’t we say?
