Beginning, Saturday, December 4 and continuing until the packing is completed; volunteers will work Monday through Saturday, 8 AM to 8 PM, packaging boxes containing ham or turkey, fresh potatoes, corn, green beans, cranberry sauce, yams, gravy and stuffing, which will be distributed by The Salvation Army to people in need.
Last year, The Salvation Army Metropolitan Division served 112,710 individuals, distributing a total of 21,444 food baskets, 81,977 toys, and 66,333 articles of clothing during the holiday season.
Holiday food distributions are supported, in large part, by The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle fund-raising campaign. With a goal of raising $12 million, familiar Red Kettles have been seen on area streets and shopping areas since November 19.
