The Metropolitan Division is blessed to have so many passionate local leaders that are dedicated to the mission of Jesus Christ found in Matthew 28:16-20. If it were not for them, we would be unable as a Salvation Army to carry it out. For that reason, we recognize that we need to train and equip our local leaders so that they can be more effective in the ministries God has entrusted to them.
To this end, we have created the Divisional Ministries Training Day.
What is the Divisional Ministries Training Day?
It is a one day training experience that is designed to equip and educate our Corps Officers, Local Officers, leaders and teachers to do their ministry better. It is a day created just for them to soak up. No preparation. No planning. No hassle. Just show up and receive.
When is the Divisional Ministries Training Day?
It will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2012 from 8:30am-3:30pm. Refreshments and lunch will be provided. A detailed schedule will be available soon.
Where is it going to take place?
It will take place at Divisional Headquarters (5040. N. Pulaski Rd, Chicago, IL 60630).
What workshops are being offered, and who is teaching them?
That is a great question with a very long answer. A “Divisional Ministries Training Day Workshops” sheet will be available soon, complete with workshop descriptions and speaker bios.
Who should attend this event?
This training is offered to anyone involved in some sort of leadership role in Army ministry. They could be a Corps Cadet leader, an After School helper, a Women’s Bible Study teacher, a Jr. Band leader, a Men’s Group leader, a van driver, a volunteer, a part time employee, or a full time director. Whoever you know that could benefit from this training is welcome to come. Please spread the word to your leaders now! Corps Officers should know this is a one-star event.
How much will it cost?
Only $10. Only $10? Yes, only $10. That includes lunch, refreshments, teaching, training resources, good times, and great memories. Seriously, what can you buy for $10 today anyway?
How do I register for this event?
Registration forms will be sent out to the Corps after Christmas. You will need to register with them by Monday, January 30, 2012.
Our theme for this event is, “Your Power Is Made Perfect In Weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9). Every leader must recognize that we are unable to do anything with God’s power and wisdom. And at the same time, we must recognize that though we are weak, He is strong, and able to do more than we can ever imagine (Ephesians 3:20). It is in that promise we trust the future of our ministries.
