Everyone involved in a long term mission needs to be reminded of their purpose, or war cry, from time to time.  Otherwise, it’s far too easy to get caught up in the day-to-day details, the seemingly useless things that, unless connected to the mission, really do become useless.  Today was a day when I was reminded of our mission as The Salvation Army.  And I don’t mean that I was cognitively retold what our mission statement is as it appears on paper.  I mean God helped me to remember the purpose of the fight, the reason we resolve.

Do yourself a favor and watch National Commander Israel L. Gaither’s Annual Report video. We’re blessed to have leaders that can so clearly communicate what it means to be a part of this movement, this church. Hopefully it will inspire you if you need it, and make you ready to go back to the front lines of the war.

Remember, “Every human being is important and we’re in a war. This is a real battle that we’re in. And anything that offends and makes a man or a woman, a boy or a girl less than God intended, that’s a war. That’s a battle that we’re willing to stand up and fight. America needs today more than ever an army of salvation. And we salute and say we’re ready to serve.”
